Santa Teresa Little League

Santa Teresa Little League Families,

As we enter the month of May with an extended Shelter at Home Order, through the end of the month, we wish you health & happiness, as we all fight this pandemic together.

We also want to emphasize that there are signs of light at the end of the tunnel.  Last week, Little League International announced the cancellation of the Little League World Series.  While on the surface this would seem like bad news, with this announcement, LLI also encouraged local Leagues to continue their seasons as soon as safe, and left the timing of the season open-ended. (It is possible that the season will run through the Summer months this year)  We are working closely with District 59 to ensure we align with other South Bay Leagues.   This week, Little League International provided leagues with guidelines on returning to baseball.  Our Board Members are actively reviewing these materials and taking the necessary steps to ensure that we will be ready for a safe return to action.

We also saw an update to the Shelter-at-Home order from Santa Clara County; and while this order has been extended through the end of the month, there is also language in the order that may open up a path to a return to practices.  As we look for clarification of the language in this order, we are in communication with the School Districts that own our fields regarding when they will be available to us again.

As we work to get back to baseball, we want to remind everyone that the current Shelter-at-Home order only allows members of the same household (family) to practice together.  We appreciate your patience and know that following this order gives us the best chance to get back on the diamond as soon as possible.  We’d also like to thank our managers and coaches who have found ways to keep their players engaged during this break from in-person practices.  We have seen Zoom workouts, at-home practice plans emailed out, team chat pages, video & picture collages, and even baseball artwork.  We always appreciate seeing these types of activities and will continue to share on our Facebook Page.

In addition to our library of At-Home Baseball drills, we have added some activity pages from the A’s and Giants that our younger ballplayers may enjoy.

To review our past updates and see links to the resources we are using to make decisions on the return of baseball, please visit our STLL COVID-19 Response Page, in the Player Safety section of our webpage.

As we go forward, we will provide another update in about 2 weeks, unless we have important news to share sooner.

We look forward to seeing you back on the field (relatively) soon,

Roger Trevino
